It seems that the Kremlin diet will soon leave behind the famous electromagnetic «Kremlin Pills». The famous Russian newspaper «Komsomolskaya Pravda» devoted an article to this diet. Rumors circulate that even the mayor of Moskow, Yuri Luzhkov, kept to this miracle-working diet to lose weight. The Kremlin diet is also called the diet of American astronauts (this, probably, is a peculiarity of the internal kremlin mythology).
Meanwhile, the secret of the diet of soviet officials and American cosmonauts is the same as of many of the well known systems of reducing weight (diets of American cardiologists Agatston and Atkins). The main peculiarity of the Kremlin diet is that one should cut down the consumption of carbohydrates in food in favor of albuminous food. Once limited in carbohydrates as the source of food the organism starts consuming its own reserves that are mainly fatty deposits. Kremlin diet’s dishes contain small amount of carbohydrate and fat but are rich in proteins, vitamins and cellulose.
The originality of the Kremlin diet is, if to compare it with western diets where you have to count calories (and to do this you have to know the exact number of calories the product contains), that Russian dietitians created a table where a certain number of points (standard units) is assigned to each product according to number of fats and carbohydrates the product contains. The higher the number of unwanted elements in the product is, the higher is the number of points it will have according to the table. One should not exceed 60 points per day; only then you will start to lose weight. Thus, instead of counting calories we have only to sum up the points. It’s more simple and convenient. It is claimed that keeping strictly to 40 points per day one can lose up to 5.5 kilos.
However the Kremlin diet demands that you do not consume sweet. Even one small piece of sugar ads you 10 points according to the diet rules. If you choose to keep to the diet you should say good bye to desserts, sweet tea, and even to bread. In the diet’s recipes non-fat and protein rich components prevail.
The Kremlin diet has some medical contradictions. People with chronic diseases, especially heart, vessels and stomach diseases, are not recommended to go on the Kremlin diet. It is also not recommended to those with kidney diseases and to pregnant women. If you are going to put a plump child on the diet you should consult a physician.
